North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT) maintains an AI Policy (created 2023, revised November 2025) and an AI Guideline for executive branch agencies. In August 2026 NDIT reported that nearly 3,000 state employees use Microsoft Copilot each month. In June 2026 state legislators formed an interim Artificial Intelligence and Data Center Committee, which Governor Kelly Armstrong said his administration will support. The Department of Public Instruction published AI guidance for K-12 schools in July 2024.
