AI in Utah

Utah organizes its state AI work under a 'Pro-Human AI' framework introduced by Gov. Spencer Cox at the 2025 Utah AI Summit; a Pro-Human AI Task Force co-chaired by the Department of Commerce and the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity was announced on Feb. 25, 2026, and the governor signed an executive order in October 2026 establishing a pro-human approach to AI in state government. The Office of Artificial Intelligence Policy within the Department of Commerce has issued guidance on AI use in mental health therapy. The University of Utah's One-U Responsible AI Initiative launched Redtail, a state-supported AI supercomputer intended to serve higher education first and later government, K-12 and industry.
