AI in Alabama

Governor Kay Ivey issued Executive Order 738 in February 2024, creating a Generative AI Task Force chaired by the Secretary of the Office of Information Technology to study and guide GenAI use in executive-branch agencies. The task force submitted its final report on November 30, 2024 (released March 25, 2025), recommending adoption of the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, procurement guidelines and mandatory GenAI training for state employees. In September 2026 the Alabama Community College System partnered with the Manufacturing Institute to offer free online AI skills training through 24 community colleges.
